Our Lady of Lourdes  Catholic Church:

Celebrate and be part of the miracle of the rebuilding and reopening of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.  It was in 1858 that Bernadette witnessed 18 apparitions. The beautiful lady told her to have a church built on the site.  Guided by faith, she went to the clergy for help.  It was not until the lady revealed herself as the “Immaculate Conception”, that anyone heeded her pleas.

Six months after hurricane Katrina, 2 parishioners met and promised each other to do everything they could to reopen our church. The 2 became 4, the 4 became 8 and so on until a year later in February of 2007, a large group gathered for a mass in our cold and gutted church.  We honored Our Lady of Lourdes on her feast day warmed by the flames of faith and joy.

In April of 2008 we received our miracle of being allowed to begin the process of rebuilding.  It has been a long and tedious time, but like Bernadette over 150 years ago, our prayers were heard and with the help of Our Lady of Lourdes our prayers were answered.

The task is not yet complete. We come to you for help and the sacrifice of your time, talent and treasure.  We are beginning with a pew drive, since pews were not in the budget for the church building, as are many other things needed to have masses and other celebrations.  There is no time so little, talent not distinct or donations too small that it will not make a big difference.

Through the FAITH of our ancestors, the HOPE of our visions and the LOVE of our God, we have confidence that the miracle will be complete…BUT… WE NEED YOU!

Be a part of our family.  Be a part of our miracle.  Be a part of Our Lady of Lourdes…
